Kathmandu, Apr 30: Dubai is set to become home to the world’s largest airport, with plans for the construction of Al Maktoum International Airport. The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved the new passenger terminal, envisioning it as a global hub for development.

The ambitious project aims to serve as a global center, with an estimated cost of around $35 billion for its construction. The airport will feature five parallel runways and accommodate around 400 aircraft gates, with an annual capacity of 260 million passengers.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized the project’s role in ensuring long-term and sustainable development for future generations. The airport’s construction signifies Dubai’s commitment to leading the aviation industry on the world stage.

Al Maktoum International Airport is poised to host all operations in the coming years, making it five times larger than the current facility. The expansion includes 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways, marking a significant milestone in Dubai’s aviation infrastructure.

The new airport will also facilitate residential planning for around 10 million people, transforming the surrounding areas into a vibrant urban center. Dubai’s media office highlighted the project’s potential to further enhance Dubai’s position as a leading aviation hub on the global stage.
