Kathmandu, Jul 1: At least 18 people, including children, adults, and pregnant women, have died, and 30 others have been injured in a series of explosions in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno state.

The explosions occurred on Saturday, with six people killed and several others injured in a suspicious blast at a wedding ceremony. Local media reports suggest the death toll could be higher, with some newspapers indicating that more than 30 people might have died.

The government’s emergency management agency confirmed that the suicide bombings targeted a wedding, a funeral, and a hospital in the city of Gwoza.

Borno province has been at the epicenter of a 15-year conflict with Boko Haram Islamic extremists, which has resulted in the deaths of 40,000 people and the displacement of more than 2 million.
