Mansarovar Kailash Pilgrims Stranded Due to Road Damage in Rasuwagadhi
Rasuwa, Aug 24: Pilgrims traveling to Mansarovar Kailash have been stranded due to road damage caused by heavy rainfall on the route towards China.
Rasuwa’s Chief District Officer, Vednidhi Khanal, reported that traffic has been halted after a flood in the Kerung River, located within Chinese territory, damaged the highway, about five kilometers north of Miteripul in Rasuwagadhi. Approximately 500 passengers returning from Kailash and 100 en route to the pilgrimage have been stranded due to the transportation disruption. Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force No. 20 Gulm Rasuwa are coordinating efforts to assist the affected pilgrims.
The distance from Kathmandu to Kerung is around 171 kilometers. The district administration has requested the Kerung authorities to expedite the reopening of the highway to facilitate the pilgrims’ journey. Deputy Superintendent of Police Keshav Bhattarai mentioned that Nepal Police is actively working to support the passengers stranded in the Timure area.
