US Envoy Rejects UK PM Keir Starmer’s Ukraine Ceasefire Plan
Kathmandu, March 23:US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Wittkoff has dismissed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s plan for an international ceasefire in Ukraine, calling it a “fraud.”
In an interview with pro-Trump journalist Tucker Carlson, Wittkoff criticized European leaders, saying they had a “simple” mindset, believing they should act like Winston Churchill. He also praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him “very intelligent” and stating, “I don’t think Putin is a bad guy.”
Despite leading US ceasefire negotiations, Wittkoff struggled to name five Ukrainian regions occupied by Russia, mistakenly referring to “Tapain” alongside Donbas, Crimea, and two unspecified areas.
The comments raise concerns about the US administration’s stance on the Ukraine conflict and its diplomatic approach.
