Kathmandu, March 17. The Prince of Bahrain and his team arrived in Kathmandu on Monday night to climb the highest peak of the world, Mount Everest. They also brought 2,000 doses of covid vaccines with them as a gift.

As the Nepalese side did not have any knowledge of the vaccine being brought, the vaccines are to be investigated by the Nepalese drug department.

Bharat Bhattarai, the director general of the Department of Drug Administration said that they had deployed a team for the investigation of vaccines as they did not know that the vaccines were being imported. He also added that if anyone was to import vaccines, they should do so through official channels to ensure that cold chain and safety requirements were met.

The vaccines is said to be administered to locals who reside at a village on the way of their expedition.

Local representatives are to get the vaccines in an attempt to name a section of mountains in the Manaslu range in the family name of the Bahraini prince. In an another incident, where a hill was named “Harry Hill” after he constructed a school after the earthquake in 2015 proved to be controversial as well. It is said that rarely such re-naming places seek permission from the concerned authorities.
