8 lakh doses of anti-covid vaccines arrive in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, June 1. On Tuesday, Nepal Airlines’ wide-body aircraft carrying 8 lakh doses of anti-covid vaccines from Beijing landed in Kathmandu.
Last week, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China will provide 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal under grant assistance.
8 lakh doses of vaccines and the same number of syringes were airlifted from Beijing today afternoon.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the remaining 2 lakhs vials are being supplied by the Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. The second shipment is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday morning.
Earlier this year, China had provided Nepal with 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines through grant assistance.
