Spanish King and South Korean president meet in Madrid

Kathmandu, June 16. South Korean President Moon Jae and First Lady Kim Jung-Sook arrived on Madrid on Tuesday. They were received by Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
South Korean President Moon is said to have attended a welcome dinner hosted by the Spanish king. He said that Spain and South Korea are similar and must co-operate upon economic issues and work together in achieving green growth.
The two sides exchanged medals of honor. During the ceremony, South Korea’s national anthem was played along with 21-gun salute.
President Moon is scheduled to hold talks with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic partnerships on Wednesday.
He will be flying to Barcelona later in the day to join an annual business leaders’ forum.
Moon’s visit to Spain is the first by a South Korean president in 14 years. The Spanish king and queen visited South Korea in 2019.
