Bharatpur launches 11 crore project to light up with 2 thousand smart street lights
Kathmandu, February 3. The Municipal Corporation of Bharatpur in collaboration with the Nepal Electricity Authority has launched a 11.5 crore project to install smart city lights on major areas around Narayanghat and Bharatpur bazaar.
While speaking with news publishers on Tuesday, Bharatpur Mayor Renu Dahal said that new 1,933 smart street lamps will be installed in 78.1 kilometres of road area by the end of Baisakh (mid-may).
Dahal also confirmed that the crowded areas such as District Administration Office, Birendra Campus, Pokhara Buspark, Diyalo Bangala, Revenue Office and Chaubiskothi Chowk will have the brightest lights.
Dahal further explained, “We hope the campaign will help make the town beautiful, promoting the security situation here.”
The Nepal Electricity Authority has been conducting similar lighting initiatives with several municipalities across the country. In January of last year, the corporation collaborated with the Kathmandu Municipal Corporation to launch the “Ujyalo Kathmandu Program.” The first phase of the project involved the installation of 1,750 new lights in selected places of Kathmandu.
