Kathmandu, February 6. The government of Karnali province on Sunday announced that it has launched a helicopter mission to provide relief packages to snow trapped villagers in Jumla.

Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi told reporters that the heavy snowfall in the past few days formed five feet thick piles of snow in the Gagra alpine range. “At Least 55 people are trapped in areas of Gagra, Adiodar, Khotisalla and Dhwani Patan.” Shahi noted.

He further explained, “Helicopters cannot land on thick piles of snow, therefore, we have launched an immediate response to drop food supplies to save them from hunger.”
