Norway will not recognize Taliban leadership in Afghanistan: Foreign Minister

Kathmandu, February 20. The government of Norway on Sunday announced that it will not recognize Taliban leadership in Afghanistan.
While speaking at a security conference in Munich, Norwegian foreign minister Anniken Huitfeldt said that the Taliban is under the UN sanctions for terrorism, due to which Oslo is reluctant in recognizing Taliban as the government of Afghanistan.
Huitfeldt explained that the Taliban’s ascession to power has caused dire humanitarian crisis. The country is severly suffering from economic damage. “We are reluctant to recognize and will not do that,” Huitfeldt added.
