Switzerland ready to assist Nepal with safer immigration
Kathmandu. The Swiss President has stated that he is ready to assist Nepal in the field of safe immigration during the ongoing pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a telephone conversation between President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga on Thursday afternoon, the latter emphasized the importance of safe immigration. He has commented that the Swiss government would assist Nepal in that regard.
Nepal and Switzerland are mountainous states, with commitments to protect the environment as well. In the context of both the landlocked countries suffering from the adverse effects of climate change, the two Presidents discussed ways to reduce the effects of climate change through appropriate adaptation plans. With confidence that the governments of the two countries would work in close contact at multilateral and bilateral levels on the issues of common interest, they also conveyed their satisfaction regarding the overall state of bilateral relations.
As per a press release issued by the Ministry on Thursday, they also exchanged views on the efforts made by their respective countries to control the spread of COVID-19. They expressed solidarity and sympathy for the impact that the virus has had on the countries.
