Kathmandu, April 24. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) confirmed on Sunday that the government of India has decided to not issue “tourist visas” to Chinese citizens.

IATA wrote in a statement, “Tourist visas issued to nationals of China (People’s Republic) are no longer valid.”

The announcement came days after China turned down India’s request to let Indian students return to China following the pandemic and resume their studies at Chinese universities.

Arindam Bagchi, Official spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs recently said that China has not given any response to the matter.

Media reports suggest that 22,000 Indian students enrolled in Chinese universities are unable to go back for physical classes.

Bagchi further said that the Indian ministry would continue to request the Chinese counterpart to help clear the way for students to return and pursue their studies.
