Lawmakers from Upper House call on to leaders to think about nation
Kathmandu, May 19. The National Assembly lawmakers, the Federal Parliament’s upper house, has urged political party leaders to think about the country rather than blame and accuse the ruling and opposition parties.
Further, they also advised the government to focus the next fiscal year’s budget on establishing a self-sufficient economy. According to them, investment in agriculture and tourism, among other sectors, should be increased.
Taking part in the deliberations on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the Fiscal Year 2022/23 in the Upper House today, Jitendra Narayan Dev of the Nepali Congress urged the leaders of the political parties to keep the nation first and prioritize the economy. He added that national consensus is necessary to build a strong economy.
Moreover, CPN (Maoist Center)’s Narayan Kaji Shrestha urged political parties to reflect on themselves and move forward together. Khimlal Bhattarai of the CPN (UML) said the opposition party would be willing to work with the government if the government had the right plan.
Overall, leaders and representatives from other parties highlighted issues of culture, economy and caste based issues.
