South Korea, US fire missiles in response to North Korea’s tests
Kathmandu, June 6. The United States(US) and South Korea fired missiles on Monday. The missiles were launched in response to North Korea’s weapon tests a day earlier.
North Korea launched eight short-range ballistic missiles a day earlier following a South Korea-US joint military exercise involving a US aircraft carrier. Further, US and South Korea launched the ground-to-ground Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) at targets in the East Sea early morning Monday.
“Our military strongly condemns the North’s series of ballistic missile provocations and sternly urges it to immediately stop acts that raise military tensions on the peninsula,” the Joint Chiefs of Staff added.
South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol aims to take a strong stance against North Korea. He said, “Our government will respond decisively and sternly to any provocations from North Korea.”
Moreover, North Korea has carried out a number of weapon tests this year, with experts warning that they might be thinking of a fresh nuclear test.
