Kathmandu, July 2. On July 1, the delegation team led by Nepali Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma made a visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA.
NA Spokesperson Brigadier General Narayan Silwal told reporters that COAS Sharma seated a meeting with high-ranking UN officials to discuss bilateral relations between the UN and the Nepali Army.
CoAS Sharma met the following senior officers at UN headquarters.
- Office of Military Affairs (OMA)’s Military Advisor General Birame Diop,
- Department of Peace Operations (DPO)’s Under-Secretary-General Jean-Pierre Lacroix,
- Department of Operational Support (DOS)’s Under-Secretary-General Atul Khare
- Department of Political and Peace Building Affairs (DPPA)’s Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo
Earlier, from June 18 to 24, CoAS Sharma visited the UN missions in Lebanon and Syria, where Nepali Army forces are currently deployed as peacekeepers.
On June 27, CoAS and his team flew to the United States.
The team is scheduled to return home on July 3.
