Hong Kong asks US to stop interfering in its issues in the name of human rights
Kathmandu, December 11. Comments from a Spokesperson at the US State Department and few US congressmen has irked the administration in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong administration on Sunday strongly condemned their comments.
While the US officials made their comments on Jimmy Lai’s fraud case, Hong Kong has said evidence is clear, procedure is law based and the judgement was open and transparent. They further added that no one is above law.
A spokesperson from the Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) said US has made its way into the case which indicates that Jimmy Lai as an “agent” of the United States.
Further, the spokesperson added relevant countries and authorities to recognize the issue and abide the principles of international law and urged US to stop vilifying Hong Kong’s human rights.
