Anti-hijacking mock exercise conducted at Tribhuvan International Airport

Kathmandu, February 27. The Nepali Army has successfully conducted an emergency “anti-hijack” joint exercise at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The drill was carried out in line with the guidelines of the TIA’s emergency action plan.

According to the Army’s Public Information Directorate, a special troop of the Buddhabhairab battalion practiced anti-hijack tactics in front of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Prabhuram Sharma.

“The drill covered activities ranging from flight landing to armed intervention and rescue of hostages when unscrupulous elements hijack the flight” the army said.

Other stakeholders in the drill included the National Airlines Corporation, TIA, Armed Police Force, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, National Investigation Department, and Nepal Police.
