Construction entrepreneurs to face music for delayed performance
Kathmandu, Sept 28. The government has forwarded steps to punish the construction and contractors companies that fail to accomplish their tasks in the given deadline.
The Department of Roads has upped moves to take action against those companies for not completing the construction till the end of the last fiscal year.
The offices under the Department in Hetauda, Lahan and Kathmandu have already issued public notice to this end.
Some companies are blacklisted for not completing the tasks of one-year or multi-year projects, Director General of the Department Keshav Kumar Sharma said. “Clarification has been sought from some contractors while some others are blacklisted,” Sharma added.
In February, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport had given one more year as the new deadline for the companies that failed to accomplish the project.
The companies were asked to inform the Department on the basis of the newest deadline. However, some of the companies did not precede the action despite such facilitation, Sharma shared, adding that it was a regular business of the Department.
For non-completion of Chabahil-Sankhu and Dholahiti-Chapagaun road sections in the Kathmandu valley, the construction companies responsible for the road projects would be booked.
Likewise, Division Road Office, Hetauda, also terminated the deal with 21 companies and seized the bank guarantee amount.
Similarly, Road Division Office, Lahan, is preparing to book 12 construction companies citing that they could not achieve progress as per the agreed terms of reference.
