Lightning Strike Kills Around 100 Sheep in Jumla

Jumla, July 30: Around 100 sheep have perished due to a lightning strike in Deuli Patan of Tila Rural Municipality, Jumla. The tragic incident occurred today, affecting nine farmers in the Pokhri area of Tila-7. Motilal Rokaya, Chairman of Tila Rural Municipality, reported that the sheep were killed in a lightning strike in Deuli Patan, which spans wards No. 6 and 9 of the municipality.

The affected farmers include Bhim Bahadur Rokaya, Lalsingh Rokaya, Kali Bahadur Rokaya, Bir Bahadur Rokaya, Bal Bahadur Rokaya, Kali Bahadur Bohora, Naine Budha, and Ram Bahadur Rokaya.

Details on the exact number of sheep lost are still being gathered. Additionally, 55-year-old Lalsingh Rokaya of Tila-7 sustained minor injuries from the lightning strike.

Chairman Rokaya mentioned, “Since the dead sheep were not insured, the farmers have suffered a huge financial loss. We will take the necessary decision for relief at the disaster management committee meeting of the municipality.”
