Universal United Nepali Taekwondo Federation (UUNTF) Elects New Leadership at Convention

Los Angeles, Sept 17: The Universal United Nepali Taekwondo Federation (UNTF) has successfully wrapped up its hybrid convention, announcing new leadership for the 2024–2028 term. Master Love Prasad Gorkhali was elected as the new President.

Joining Gorkhali are key members of the leadership team: Senior Vice Presidents Kisan Singh Baral Thapa and Jagan Lal Shrestha, Vice President Harihar Pandey, General Secretary Ganesh Thapa, Secretary and Spokesperson Raju Thapa, Treasurer Amrit Mahato, and a diverse group of members including Jwala Karki, Mahadev Dhanuk, Rupa Syangtan, and others. Roshan Adhikari, head of the election committee, announced the results.

A moment of silence was held to honor the Taekwondo players who contributed greatly to the sport but have passed away. The UNTF, founded to support and guide Nepali athletes both in Nepal and abroad, continues to be instrumental in promoting Taekwondo’s development in Nepal.
Amrit Mahato, the event coordinator, highlighted that the convention saw participation from Taekwondo athletes, coaches, and leaders from across the globe.

San Diego Consul General Rishi Dhakal, the chief guest, praised the global impact of Nepali Taekwondo, emphasizing the need to further promote the sport internationally. He expressed pride in the unity of the Nepali community and pledged his support for future UNTF initiatives.

The convention’s inauguration took place at the Shri Pashupatinath and Buddha Temple, with outgoing President Santosh Pradhan, Consul General Rishi Dhakal, and other prominent figures lighting a ceremonial lamp. During the opening event, various community leaders, including Rameshwar Bhandari, President of the Pashupatinath Temple, welcomed attendees and wished for the success of the convention.

Later in the evening, at the Himalayan Grill Restaurant, outgoing President Santosh Pradhan formally handed over the responsibilities to newly elected President Love Gorkhali. Contributions by individuals to the organization and community were also recognized during the event.

The program ended with heartfelt thanks from Amrit Mahato to everyone who attended, marking the successful conclusion of the convention.
