Nepal Falls Short in ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Warm-Up Match

Kathmandu, Jan 13: Nepal suffered a narrow defeat against the West Indies in their first warm-up match for the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. West Indies edged out Nepal by nine runs in the match held in Malaysia.

Chasing a target of 110 runs, Nepal was bowled out for 100 in 19.1 overs. Key contributions came from Simana KC (23), Pooja Mahato (18), Kiran Kunwar (18), and Soni Pakhrin (15). West Indies’ bowlers Trisha Hardat, Alia Vickies, and Amiya Gilbert claimed two wickets each.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, West Indies posted 109/4 in their 20 overs. Zajara Claxton remained unbeaten on 22, while captain Samara Ramanath added 25 runs, and Abigail Bryce chipped in with 19. Nepal’s Simana KC and Rachana Kumari Chaudhary picked up a wicket apiece.

Nepal will face the United States in their second warm-up match on Magh 20. The main tournament begins the same day, with Nepal placed in Group ‘D’ alongside Bangladesh, Scotland, and Australia.
