Tension at Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality as Administrative Officer Continues in Position
Kathmandu, April 3: A clash broke out at the Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality after employees gathered to welcome Saroj Prasad Guragai, the Chief Administrative Officer.
The municipal employees had planned to confront Guragai over unpaid salaries, which have been pending for five months. However, tensions escalated when the Mayor of Kathmandu deployed city police to prevent Guragai from entering the office.
The Mayor had previously recommended action against Guragai for alleged irregularities, including approving the map for the Kathmandu Tower being built in the old bus park area. Despite this, the General Administration Ministry of the federal government directed that Guragai continue in his position, a decision he has expressed reluctance to accept.
