Pakistani Rangers Return BSF Soldier to India After Border Arrest

Kathmandu, May 14: A BSF (Border Security Force) soldier, Purnam Kumar Saw, who was arrested by Pakistani Rangers on April 23 at the Atari border in Punjab, has been extradited to India, according to an official statement.
The BSF confirmed that Purnam Kumar was handed over to Indian authorities at 10:30 am at the Joint Check Post (JCP) in Atari, Amritsar, on Wednesday morning. The statement mentioned that the transfer was peaceful and conducted as per established protocols.
His arrest came just a day after the April 22 terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, which had heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The situation worsened following India’s airstrikes on Pakistan in early May.
Despite the strained relations, both nations have shown signs of restraint and are reportedly working towards de-escalation, following a ceasefire agreement signed earlier this month.
