PM Oli: UML Cannot Secure Majority Alone Under Current Electoral System

Kathmandu, May 19: Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli stated that it is impossible for the UML to secure a single majority in the upcoming 2084 BS elections under the current electoral system.
Speaking at the 7th National Convention of the Oppressed Ethnic Liberation Society of Nepal in Kathmandu on Monday, PM Oli emphasized that no party can win a majority on its own due to the proportional representation system enshrined in the constitution. He urged UML members to strive to become the largest and most influential force within this framework.
Highlighting the party’s role, Oli said the UML must become a decisive national force to ensure development, good governance, national independence, and integrity. He claimed the party was focused on these goals without prioritizing personal or party interests.
PM Oli also accused the opposition of spreading confusion among the public, asserting that such misinformation must be countered through unity and clarity. He called on citizens to keep national interest at the center and support the broader communist movement and UML’s vision for the country’s progress.
