PM Oli Forms Panel to Select New Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor

Kathmandu, May 20: Prime Minister and Tribhuvan University (TU) Chancellor KP Sharma Oli has formed a three-member recommendation committee to select a new Vice-Chancellor for the university.

The committee is headed by Education, Science and Technology Minister Raghuji Pant. Its members include Geeta Kumari Poudyal, Education Member of the National Planning Commission, and Dr. Deepak Kafle, Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The post became vacant following the resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Keshar Jang Baral on March 10. In the interim, Prof. Dr. Khadga KC was appointed as acting Vice-Chancellor for a term of three additional months, starting May.

The newly formed committee is expected to recommend candidates for the permanent Vice-Chancellor position in the coming weeks.
