Kathmandu, May 21: US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States has selected a design for its upcoming Golden Dome missile defense system, aimed at protecting the country from modern aerial threats.

Trump stated that the system will be operational before the end of his term, revealing the plan just days after returning to the White House in January.

The Golden Dome is intended to defend against airstrikes, including ballistic and cruise missiles. It draws partial inspiration from Israel’s Iron Dome, known for its effective rocket interception capabilities.

The US government has allocated a $25 billion budget for the project, although long-term costs are expected to rise significantly.

Officials emphasized the urgency of the new system, warning that existing missile defense technologies are no longer sufficient against emerging threats.
