Lawmaker Ek Nath Dhakal Addresses IPU Interfaith Dialogue at Italian Parliament

Rome, June 20 : Lawmaker Ek Nath Dhakal participated in and delivered remarks at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)’s Second Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, held at the Italian Parliament under the theme “Strengthening Trust and Embracing Hope for Our Common Future.”
In his speech, Dhakal emphasized the urgent need to address the pressing challenges facing humanity in order to build a brighter and more peaceful future. He highlighted the important roles that parliamentarians and religious leaders play in fostering cooperation, upholding moral and ethical values, and promoting harmony in the midst of diversity.
Representing the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) as its Secretary General, Dhakal expressed strong support for the IPU’s initiative and reaffirmed ISC’s commitment to religious freedom and democratic principles.
Lawmaker Dhakal serves at the International Relations Committee of the House of Representatives of Nepal.
As Secretary General of ISC, Dhakal held sideline talks with the IPU President Tulia Ackson, Secretary General Martin Chungong as well as Speakers of Bahrain, UAE, Chile, Zimbabwe, Eswatini among others.
The conference, jointly hosted by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Italian Parliament, and Religions for Peace, gathered Speakers and members of parliament alongside religious leaders, UN representatives, civil society, and academia from around the world. It served as a timely platform for global dialogue and collaboration across lines of faith, politics, and culture.
