Nepal-India Ties Rooted in History, Says Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba

Kathmandu, Aug 15: Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba has described Nepal–India relations as a historic friendship built on mutual trust and cooperation, calling for their further deepening in the days ahead.

Speaking at a program organized by the Indian Embassy in Lalitpur on the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day, Dr. Rana lauded India’s economic progress and highlighted the centuries-old cultural, geographical, and civilizational bonds between the two nations.

She emphasized expanding joint cooperation in trade, technology, infrastructure, and meeting the aspirations of both peoples. “Nepal–India relations are not confined to borders; they are united by shared heritage, rivers, mountains, and ancient civilizations,” she noted.

Dr. Rana also stressed the need for greater collaboration to tackle climate change, promote sustainable development, and address shared challenges.

Earlier, she conveyed heartfelt congratulations to India and its people through Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on the occasion of Independence Day.
