Kathmandu, Sept 26: Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising has warned that another major uprising could occur in Nepal if irregularities and corruption continue unchecked.

Speaking at a program organized by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on Friday to congratulate and felicitate him, Minister Ghising stressed that immediate action would be taken against any sign of wrongdoing. “The prime minister and I have a big wish to move Nepal forward in the direction of good governance and to take immediate action if there is any smell of irregularities and corruption. There is no exemption for anyone. If such actions are not taken, there will be another major uprising in this country, and those rebellions will not leave anyone behind,” he said.

He further emphasized the importance of fulfilling the aspirations of the younger generation by maintaining good governance and creating an environment for living and working in the country to end injustices and bring prosperity.

At the same program, NEA Executive Director Manoj Silwal praised Minister Ghising’s leadership, saying he had brought the institution to new heights and that the roadmap he envisioned would continue with the cooperation of all employees.
