Kathmandu, Dec 31: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has reiterated that the government is fully committed to holding the general elections on time.

Speaking at a dialogue program on “Cooperation for Peace, Stability and Prosperity” organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Wednesday, Prime Minister Karki said the government has reached a stage where elections can be conducted on the scheduled date through continuous dialogue and cooperation with political parties and youth.

“Everyone knows that this government was formed with the commitment to hold elections in March. Through constant dialogue and cooperation among the government, political parties and youth, we have reached the position to conduct elections on the announced date,” he said.

Prime Minister Karki also said that past political changes in Nepal have failed to improve the lives and behavior of ordinary citizens, adding that the Genji movement emerged as an expression of widespread frustration and disappointment.

He said the human losses suffered during the Genji movement would remain a deep and painful wound. “Political changes did not improve the lives of common citizens, and employment opportunities remained insufficient. The level of despair became explosive, leading to the Genji movement. The humanitarian losses caused during the movement can never be forgotten,” he said.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Karki praised the private sector for continuing to move forward with resilience and high morale despite facing multiple challenges.
