Guthi Corporation Dismisses Buddhist Guthi Chief Over Irregularities
Kathmandu, Jan 28: The Guthi Corporation has dismissed Bhupati Bajra Lama, the chief of Buddhist and Melamchi Ghyang Guthis, on charges of irregularities and misconduct.
Earlier, Minister for Land Management Dr. Kumar Ingnam had publicly accused Bhupati Bajra Lama of securing the post by paying a bribe of Rs 50 million and termed him a “Chinese Lama.” Following the allegation, the minister directed the Guthi Corporation to investigate the matter and take action.
Based on the investigation, a meeting of the Guthi Corporation held on Friday decided to remove Bhupati Bajra Lama from his post.
According to the corporation, he was found guilty of failing to protect Guthi land, not properly managing the temple, not residing at the temple as required, and acting against the official code of conduct.
Before taking the final decision, the corporation had sought clarification from him regarding the allegations. After reviewing his explanation, the corporation proceeded with his dismissal.
