Nepali domestic help in Ludhiana absconding with booty worth millions
Ludhiana, India. A Nepali domestic help has been accused of stealing cash and gold jewelry worth millions from a house at Gurdev Nagar in Ludhiana on Wednesday night. Khem Bahadur, the accused, and his two accomplices were captured in the CCTV camera installed outside the house.
It is suspected that Khem Bahadur served eatables with sedatives to the owners of the house, an elderly couple in their 70s, along with the security guard and the minor help and ran away with the haul-around INR 24 lakh in cash and 500 grams of gold jewelry.
Hindustan Times mentions that the couple’s son is an industrialist who runs a hosiery factory. He was away with his wife and children at his relatives’house in Model Town when the midnight theft took place. He informed the police after he knew about the incident on his return at 2 am.
The police have announced cash reward for information on the accused. The CCTV footage showed Khem Bahadur and his two accomplices entering the house around 10.30pm and leaving around 12.30am.
According to investigators, the family had not got Bahadur verified through the police before employing him two months ago.
