Irrational deferral: Dr KC continues his hunger strike
Kathmandu. The much awaited meeting, supposed to take place on Friday between Dr Govinda KC’s representatives and the government talks team, has been called off eventually. Dr Pritam Subedi, who is assisting Dr KC, informed about the cancellation.
Representatives of Dr KC had waited till 7 pm, as it was the time set by the government side for the talk. It has been learnt that since an agreement could not be reached during the informal discussions, the government team did not come forward for formal talks. Dr KC has told that he would continue his fasting until his demands are met. Dr KC’s fast-till-death is on its 26th day today.
There were talks between the government team led by secretary of Ministry of Education Gopi Nath Minali and representatives of Dr KC led by Dr Jeevan Chhetri in two phases on Thursday. The talk was taking positive direction, it was said. Both teams had decided to hold talks on Friday and try to reach an acceptable point so that Dr KC would end his hunger strike at the soonest.
Doctors attending to Dr KC say his health condition is deteriorating. The inability to convene on Friday, however, has made things more complicated.
