Nepali critically injured from burglar’s gunshot in Texas

Texas, USA. A gang of armed robbers shot a Nepali youth in Austin, Texas of USA The victim is identified as Umesh Neupane, 35, who hails from Sarlahi district of Nepal.
On Wednesday night, October 7, robbers attacked and fired at Umesh at the gas station and retail store where he was working. He was seriously injured by the burglars.
At around 11 pm, three black men had entered the store. Umesh had raised his hands in submission when one of them pointed gun at him, but he was not spared.The bullet pierced through his stomach damaging the internal organs, it is learned.
The CCTV footage, however, shows that the gang ran away without taking anything from the store. According to the police, the gang looted from two other stores in Austin after fleeing away from there. They are still absconding.
Umesh’s health condition is very critical and he is being treated in the ICU since Wednesday midnight at a local hospital, informs Dev Raj Neupane, social worker and ex-president of Austin Nepali Society, to DCNepal. “The victim has undergone a successful surgery of stomach, with care to save the damaged organs and has returned to consciousness post operation on Friday afternoon.,” he added.
Umesh has been living with his wife and child in Austin after migrating to US. The upcoming festive season in US and the corona pandemic have added to the increase in crimes like robbing and stealing in the Austin vicinity and other areas of Texas. There are more reports of robbery and shootings at stores and gas stations that run round the clock, as they become easy targets for the criminals.
