Kathmandu. A huge bomb, dropped in Poland by Britain during World War II, has exploded. It was discovered in a canal near the Polish port of Swinoujscie, where it exploded.
The Polish navy attempted to defuse it, but the deflagration turned into a detonation. According to CNN, a spokesperson for the Polish Ministry of Defense told that no injuries or damages were reported, and that ‘Every step of operation was under control.’
The bomb, code named Tallboy, is the biggest ever found in Poland. It weighed 12,000 pounds and is believed to be one of the 12 Tallboys dropped by the Royal Air Force during the final months of the war in April 1945.
Poland suffered heavy shelling from Allied planes during World War II as it was occupied by the Nazis. The bomb is believed to have been used against the German ship Lützow.
