Terrorist attack in France: A woman beheaded, two killed outside church
Kathmandu. France became witness to a second terrorist attack in fifteen days. The attack occurred in the city of Nice, where a woman was beheaded and two men were killed using a knife, outside the Notre Dame Church.
According to an article in BBC, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi said that it was a terrorist attack and spoke of “islamo-fascism”. The suspect was arrested soon after the incident. The incident comes days after a cartoon of Prophet Mohammed was shown in a classroom and a high school teacher was killed as a consequence of it. The government of France had been taking action against Islamic organizations, an action which is condemned by Muslim majority countries around the world.
Gérald Darmanin, France’s interior minister told citizens to avoid the area near the Notre Dame Church. The National Assembly meeting of France observed a minute of silence to mourn the incident.
Prime Minister of France, Jean Castex said, “Without question this is a very serious new challenge that is striking our country.”
