Government rejects TV operators’ request for price hike
Kathmandu. In order to promote Nepali businesses and advertisement sector, the Government of Nepal had implemented clean feed policy on October 23 in the television broadcasting system due to which Nepali dubbed foreign advertisements are now banned all over Nepal.
Almost 150 international channels, mostly Indian Channels, were barred by the government because of their inability to provide clean feed content due to lack of necessary equipment.
The Federation of Nepal Cable Television Entrepreneurs stated that they have already started preparations which will be completed within 15 days. They also said that there is no other option than increasing the price to the costumers as feeding for Nepal alone will increase the cost for foreign broadcasting channels.
In response, the Ministry for Communication and Information Technology has clearly instructed that the cable operators will not be allowed to increase the price to the costumers at any cost.
Today’s Gorkhapatra Daily has reported that the federation has suggested the government to allow providing economic basic channel package and optional fee-based packages with more channels.
