Insurance Companies to clear the Corona Insurance claims within a week
Only 15 crore out of 200 crore has been paid so far.
Kathmandu. After hearing widespread criticism regarding the delay in settling corona insurance claims, on Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance held a meeting with the Insurance Board.
At the conference, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, the Finance Minister instructed the Insurance Board to make arrangements for the payment of the pending claims this year.
Under the direction of the Board, non-life insurance companies had started two corona insurance policies worth NRs. 1 lakh and NRs. 50 thousand.
So far, more than 20,000 insurers have requested insurance premium payout documents of more than Rs 200 crore, but only about Rs 15 crore has been paid.
After the meeting, the Insurance Board issued a directive to the insurance companies to pay the pending amount within a week.
Considering the rise of the infections, the Corona Insurance Policy has been revised in such a manner that the payment shall be made only on the basis of the cost of the health treatment of the infected insurer.
