Kathmandu.    Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane returned home yesterday after concluding a three-day official visit to Nepal. Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Prabhuram Sharma saw General Naravane off at Tribhuvan International Airport.

General Naravane had arrived in Kathmandu on November 4 at the official invitation of COAS General Purna Chandra Thapa. General Naravane was conferred the rank of an honorary General of the Nepali Army by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Shital Niwas in a special ceremony on Thursday.

The Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army handed over four ambulances, four ventilators and other medical equipments and supplies required to operate two mobile hospitals on Thursday. General Naravane also paid visit to the Basantapur Durbar Square and the Pashupatinath Temple on Wednesday.

In the bilateral talks between COAS General Purna Chandra Thapa and his counterpart, Indian Army Chief General Naravane, both chiefs discussed about strengthening the relationship further through high-level visits, trainings and increasing the area of cooperation, informed Nepali Army spokesperson Brig Gen Shantosh Ballave Poudyal.

General Naravane shared his experiences with the student officers at the Nepali Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri and made a courtesy call to Prime Minister and Defense Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday afternoon before departing for India.

General Purna Chandra Thapa and General MM Naravane both noted that the friendship between the two armies had always been solid and believed that General Naravane’s visit had strengthened  the bond.
