Kaathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is facing the ire of his own fellow party chair and senior leaders of the party has made it clear that he is not going to resign any time soon. In a television interview the prime minister has told that his detractors may hold unauthorized meetings against him, but he would not be fazed by such activities.

According to Prime Minister Oli, the chance of the restructuring of the cabinet is also very slim. The meeting of the permanent committee of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on September 11 had decided to reorganize the government, but the prime minister has decided  against it as the tension between him and fellow chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has been escalating.

Prime Minister Oli denied the allegation that, in a meeting with Chair Prachanda, he had expressed his desire to split the party and head in separate directions. Prachanda, however, had informed the leaders close to him about Oli’s decision to divide the party as he had found it difficult to  continue the journey together. The dispute had reached its climax after the topic of splitting the party surfaced.

Talking on the topic of secretariat meeting, PM Oli explained that the party secretariat meeting can’t be called at random and that certain procedures had to be followed. After the discussion between the two chairs, as per their decision, the general secretary calls the secretariat meeting, he said.

Since the Prachanda group had been holding meetings at different places, they had suggested for a secretariat meeting for their convenience, according to PM Oli. Five members of the secretariat had gathered for an informal meeting at the party office in Dhumbarahi on Friday. As per the decision of the meeting, the secretariat members had asked PM Oli, in a written form, to call a secretariat meeting, but PM Oli had not accepted their proposal.

In another context, Prime Minister Oli has defended his visit with Samant Kumar Goyal, the Indian intelligence agency RAW’s chief. While the prime minister has been criticized for the covert meeting, he stated that he had met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special envoy and there was nothing wrong with it. Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has kept a note  about the discussion. He also added, without disclosing the names, that there had been other officials with him during the meeting.
