107-year-old democratic fighter Sapkota passes away

Kathmandu, Nov 14. Democratic fighter and senior social worker Bhumiswar Sapkota passed away Friday at his residence in Gaindakot, Nawalparasi. He was 107 years old.

Born on Magh 1, 1971 B.S. in Baglung, Sapkota was involved in the democratic struggle since his acquaintance with BP Koirala during the 2016 B.S. parliamentary elections. Sapkota had been jailed after staging a demonstration calling for the release of BP Koirala who was arrested in 2017 B.S.

Sapkota also had a significant contribution in promoting education in his home district in Baglung, where a school that he initiated at his home is now established as the Janapriya Secondary School in Amarapuri. His social work continued after he shifted based to Gaindakot in 2029 B.S.

His last rites will take place at the bank of Narayan river today, according to family sources.

Sapkota is survived by his two sons and one daughter. One of his sons, Tilak Prasad Sapkota is Nepali Congress Nawalparasi Mahasamiti member. (RSS)
