Mahendranagar Museum opens for the public

Mahendranagar. The Bed Uprety Trust has opened the Mahendranagar Museum along with the statue of Siddhanath Baba in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur since Friday, November 13, 2020. The Director of the Trust, Captain Uprety, stated that the statue of Siddhanath Baba and the museum premises were open to the public. “We were unable to operate on time due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown imposed,” he asserted.

Captain Uprety mentioned that apart from the section of the museum still under construction, the Siddhanath Baba statue and rest of the museum premises have been opened after the recent increase in the number of people taking photos and making Tik-Tok videos within the museum premises. Beyond the museum, the attraction includes the Siddhanath Baba statue, a swimming pool, nine dharas (traditional taps), helicopters and aerial photographs of tourist attractions of the Far West region.

It also holds ‘ups and downs’ room and 3D and illusion rooms. The Trust aims to regularize the services once the situation settles.

The attractions featured in the premises, likely to inspire visitors, is anticipated to make an attractive tourist destination in the Far West. Captain Uprety, along with his mother Saraswati, have donated land currently valued at Rs. 30 million for the trust.

The museum was established at a cost of Rs. 70 million, including Rs. 40 million for the construction. A statue of Captain’s mother Saraswati has been erected inside the premises, due to her encouragement of the project, as well as, for donating land for the purpose.

The trust that has already opened museums in Dhangadhi and Kathmandu, and has provided free admission to senior citizens above 70 years currently, with a fixed entrance rate at Rs. 50, for the others. However, once the museum is fully functional, the entrance fee will be set at Rs 100 for students and Rs 150 for the rest.
