China, Turkey to work together against COVID-19, terrorism

Kathmandu. China and Turkey marked 50 years of diplomatic ties on Monday. Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu had a telephone conversation through which both counterparts were willing to strengthen their ties.
Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu congratulated China on the successful containment of COVID-19, adding that they have purchased a batch of Chinese COVID-19 vaccines. He also expressed that he had confidence on the Chinese vaccines, mentioning that they were safe and effective.
Wang said that China is willing to stand with Turkey to combat the virus. He also said that political mutual trust is necessary to enhance relations between the two countries. Wang also mentioned to extend in depth anti-terror cooperation with Turkey, highlighting the issue of East Turkestan Islamic Movement.
The Turkish Foreign Minister responded that Turkey was against terrorism and stressed upon the fact that it will not go against China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
