ADB projects a meager 1.5% economic growth

Kathmandu. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has projected Nepal’s economic growth to be limited to 1.5% in the current fiscal year 2077/78(2021 AD).

Economic Outlook mentions that the information released by ADB on Monday points at the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and steps like lockdowns taken to curb the disease as the major culprits affecting the economy adversely.

In April, ADB’s projection for Nepal’s economic growth for 2021 had been 6.4% that was modified to 3.1% in June. The bank has estimated the economic growth  for 2020 to be 2.3% .

The economic growth rate of south Asia is going to be 6.8% negative in 2020 and 7.1% in 2021 according to ADB.
