American Biopharmaceutical company Moderna publicly released a 135-page blueprint document that consisted a detailed description about the last stage screening of its coronavirus vaccine  “MRNA-1273”. The document reveals the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

In an interview with CBS News, Moderna president, Dr. Stephen Hoge stated that the vaccine is the first of its kind which “instead of preventing infection, teaches the body to better fight the virus” and hopefully reduce its severity to that of a common cold. The CEO of the company has announced that they are were proactively working towards the commercial launch of the vaccine. The company has already enrolled 25,000 non-infected volunteers in the phase 3 out of which 10,000 volunteers have already received the second or the final shot. Within the next few weeks, all the volunteers will receive the second shot of the vaccine. Thereafter, the investigators will have to wait for the trail participants to catch the virus and get sick.

Moderna believes that it will know around the November/December timeframe of whether the vaccine would be ready for distribution. According to National Geographic more than 150 coronavirus vaccines are currently in development across the world. Additionally, the World Health Organization is also coordinating global efforts to develop a vaccine and deliver two billion doses by the end of 2021.
