New York. This year’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has been labeled to be a unique affair owing to the global pandemic. Since the participants could not attend the General Assembly in person, their respective addresses are being conducted electronically through audio-visual mediums.

The previous UNGAs saw leaders from around the world addressing the assembly, meeting each other, holding discussions, and trying to strengthen and improve relations. In the ongoing 75th General Assembly, pre-recorded speeches from leaders around the world are being broadcasted. The General Assembly Hall, that normally hosts around 2500 delegates, has roughly 200 participants following the basic health standards.

The current situation around the UN headquarters reflects the regular proceedings of the General Assembly week, but with fewer security personnel, staff and journalists in attendance. The locals have mentioned the stark difference in the activities of New York City, where the UN Headquarters is based.

Local establishments within the vicinity of the UN Headquarters have witnessed a dip in their businesses. Some stated that they used to be incredibly busy during the previous UNGA event.
