Province No. 5 named Lumbini, capital Bhalubang
Kathmandu. The provincial government’s proposal to name Province No. 5 as Lumbini and set up Bhalubang of Dang as provincial capital has been endorsed with two-thirds majority by the Province Assembly.on Tuesday.
82 votes were cast in the assembly comprising of 87 lawmakers. There were 69 votes in favor of establishing Bhalubang of Dang as the state capital and 13 against it. Similarly, 79 votes were cast in favor of naming the province as Lumbini, whereas 4 votes were cast against it.
The main opposition Nepali Congress had issued a whip on its lawmakers to vote against the government’s proposal of selecting Bhalubang as the capital. Lawmakers of the party, however, 5 Nepali Congress lawmakers defied the party whip and supported the proposal.
