Former CBI director commits suicide

Kathmandu. Former director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of India Ashwani Kumar, 69, was found hanging in his house in Shimla.

A suicide note was recovered from the site in which Ashwani Kumar has not blamed anyone for his death. Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu informed that the note simply reads, “I am fed-up with my disease and disability thus ending this life. My soul will embark upon a new journey now. No body is responsible for my decision.”

Kumar was appointed CBI Director between 2008 and 2010. He also served as Director-General of Police of Himachal Pradesh between 2006 and 2008.

According to  Deccan Herald, the  PhD holder from Shimla University was the Governor of Manipur before being transferred to Nagaland where he served till June 2014. He resigned from the post after Narendra Modi-led NDA government assumed power in May 2014.
