‘China has deployed 60,000 troops along the LAC with India’: Pompeo
Kathmandu. Amid rising tensions between India and China over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has claimed that China has deployed 60,000 troops along the border. He added that China posed a threat to the ‘Quad’ nations in the Indo-Pacific region.
Pompeo made a statement against China in an interview on Friday after returning from a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Quad Group of Indo-Pacific countries, the United States, Japan, India and Australia, in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien mentioned it was time to acknowledge that there was no point in negotiating with China as it would not change its aggressive approach.
He further stated that the Chinese Communist Party’s expansionist aggression on the Indian border could be clearly seen as it was trying to control the LAC by force. He also asserted that there was no point in being lenient with China, adding that doing so for a long time was not an achievement.
