Department of Food Technology and Quality Control charges cases against 24 industries

Kathmandu. Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has increased its pace of investigation as the festive season is near. Co-spokesperson of the department, Santosh Dahal, has said that they have started cases against those industries who are working contrary to the principles of the Food Act.

The “Rapid Response Team” that was created to act immediately upon the complaints has registered 24 industries. According to Dahal, hotels, food stores and food industries located in 398 locations under the department and subordinate departments were investigated.

Various samples have been collected from food, water and milk industries. They are being investigated as the festive season is approaching and the food quality must not be compromised. Some of those industries were seen to be operating without permits and selling substandard quality of food. The department has said that they have got the results of some samples and some are yet to come.
